Tai Kwun x InnerGlow 2026 - Lights Up with Outdoor Disco and Projection Party

Tai Kwun is bringing back its annual light-and-art showcase this February, transforming the Parade Ground and Prison Yard into an open-air neon party as part of InnerGlow 2026.

Running from 6 to 22 February (except 16 February), the historic Central compound will host two evening programmes: Discotheque Dreams at the Parade Ground and Searchlight 2026 in the Prison Yard. Both are free to attend.

Discotheque Dreams at the Parade Ground

Stepping into the Parade Ground after sunset, visitors are greeted by a façade washed in neon tones. The colonial architecture becomes a backdrop for projection mapping that pulses in sync with disco-inspired beats.

At the centre of the space, a real-time body-tracking dance zone invites visitors to step into the spotlight. Movements are captured and translated into large-scale projections, turning spontaneous dance moves into part of the visual display.

On selected weekends (14–15 and 21–22 February), live dance performances add another layer to the atmosphere, bringing choreographed routines into the open-air setting.

Searchlight 2026 at the Prison Yard

A short walk away, the Prison Yard becomes the setting for Searchlight 2026, where returning alumni artists reinterpret the historic courtyard through light and sound.

The installation shifts the mood from disco energy to a more contemplative visual performance. Beams of light move across the brick façades, creating layers of shadow and motion that interact with the surrounding architecture.

Why It’s Worth Visiting

InnerGlow has become one of Tai Kwun’s signature evening programmes, using light, movement and music to reinterpret the heritage site after dark.

The contrast between disco aesthetics and the site’s former law-enforcement architecture creates a layered visual experience — part celebration, part reimagining of space. With free entry and central location, it’s an accessible option for Valentine’s Day outings or Lunar New Year evening plans.
